Jem - Fencing Documentary

Fencing Documentary -

  • 1st person
  • no narrator
  • factual and storytelling
  • directed and actuality

good shots used -
  • close up of her eyes behind the mask
  • when she is running and the voice over - enhances that they are her thoughts
    • she goes through the streets surrounded by others
  • seeing her in her natural form - sweaty, tired etc. nothing false, all real
  • putting her hat on, pulling up her trousers showing her going from a girl to a fencer - still the same person
  • shots of her fencing from far away (slightly behind a pillar) - enhances that it is real
editing techniques -
  • slow motion
  • when she is fencing in the darkened room there is always enough light on her that we can clearly see what she is doing - obviously staged however looks completely natural
  • pan up from feat to head when she is running, camera travelling at the same speed as her
